After managing its incentive programs internally, Saga is now partnering with Merkl to gain flexibility, automate reward distribution, and unlock more possibilities for its community. A strategic move to better support its growth and ecosystem.
As a Layer-1 protocol purpose-built for scalability, Saga enables anyone to deploy their own EVM-compatible blockchain — known as Chainlets — offering a dedicated environment for every dApp. Instead of competing for blockspace, developers on Saga get their own chain, giving them the freedom to focus on building, not infrastructure.
This innovative design has attracted a vibrant ecosystem of web3 gaming and AI applications, drawn to Saga’s speed, scalability, zero gas fees, and seamless EVM compatibility.
To support and foster this growing ecosystem, Saga has introduced its own reward program.
Since 2024, Saga has been running its own program to reward stakers who locked their tokens into Saga vaults. In early 2025, these efforts expanded to include liquidity providers (LPs) for Saga tokens. Rewards were distributed via a custom-built claims page.
While effective, managing this reward infrastructure internally came with its share of challenges — from allocating internal resources to building and maintaining the system. As the program scaled, it became clear that a more flexible, feature-rich, and future-proof solution was needed.
To scale its incentive efforts, Saga is migrating its rewards program to Merkl — the leading platform for managing and distributing onchain incentives, with over $100M in rewards already distributed.
By partnering with Merkl, Saga gains access to:
This migration marks a shift from a manually managed system to a modular, automatic, scaled, incentive platform, allowing the Saga team to focus on growth rather than internal tooling.
What's next?
In the coming days, Saga will be fully integrated with Merkl, allowing anyone — users or protocols — to launch incentive campaigns through Merkl, rewarding participation and activity within the Saga ecosystem.
At the same time, Uniswap v3 on Saga will also go live on Merkl, enabling SAGA liquidity providers to start earning rewards via Merkl — a key step toward boosting token liquidity and strengthening Saga’s DeFi presence.
This marks the beginning of a new chapter in incentive design for Saga: more flexibility, more control, and more impact!
